A Carlos Update

Carlos P. has turned a corner. Though it may have been for two days, he has shown an understanding for what the two "S's" stand for in Silent Sustained Reading. Now, him reading is another story.
But on Thursday, the kid was quiet. His eyes wide, watching my every move. There were no wisecracks, no disruptions, no students telling him, "Callate, guey!" Carlos paid attention and even turned his classwork in early.
Friday he started talking again. Following numerous raisings of his hand, he participated by answering questions and asking even one valid, good question.
Did he turn a corner? Has he straightened up?
Or did I just jinx it by writing about it here?
